Winsome, Losesome

Apart from waking up to find that Dog had had an attack of the shits in the night and plastered himself and the living room fairly evenly in an odious dripping kahki, the day started well.

Sometime ago I won (let me just repeat that: I won!) a Creative Zen MicroPhoto MPthingy in a competition. And today it arrived.

I was, to use the vernacular, gobsmacked. I had no idea it would be the latest bells and whistles version with a sound dock and... well with everything a reasonably bankrolled person might buy themselves for £300. But there was no time to dally: a new business call called.
With new business won (yes, I've won two things. I'm as amazed as you. Has Mercury left my planeteray interface or something? Next thing you know they'll be finding Beagle on Mars), it's time to head home and play with the new toy. I've glossed over childcare. When a gadget rears its all too rare head, a bloke's life has a whole new focus.

Arrive home, shredded outer packaging, remove glowing shiney new toy from box, breathing only slightly too hard, admire packaging and design and state-of-the-artness. Run up to computer with disc in hand having, for the first time ever, read the manual first which says in huge capitals, outlines and underlines, with colour pointy arrows and all kind of things (copyright Arlo Guthrie) "DO NOT USE UNTIL SOFTWARE INSTALLED" to find that it doesn't work on a Mac. Not at all. Totally redundant.

Shit.

So now, because his mum has a PC, Son has a new Creative Zen Microphoto and I've got his old iPod Shuffle. And it's not even Christmas.

ho ho ho hum

that is indeed a bugger. Still - sounds like son should be happy and that is a good thing.

Indeed GSE: my main aim in life at all times. However, I wouldn't have minded an all singing all dancing MP3 wotsit of my own, just for a while.
