Many moons ago I wrote about driving on the A34. You can find that original blog in the Oct archive if you are having trouble sleeping.
Today, as I was driving down this benighted road to my son's school carol service, a ladder blew off a car in the slow lane. The guy stopped about another 50 yds on and then ran back down the slow lane, with lorries and vans and cars hooting and swerving madly, to rescue it.
And then, bugger me, if a little further on I didn't drive past two dodgy geezers reloading some turfs (turves?) back onto their lorry. They were carrying them, turf by turf, about 20 or 30 yards down the slow lane. They had about 20 left to go when I sailed by.
It's madness out there.
