I once started writing a book

(funnily enough, NOT, it's unfinished, probably in a proverbial drawer, as your previous post describes, but nowhere near publishable by many a mile)

it was crucial that I knew what would have been playing on a juke box at the time of one of the scenes, so I spent ages getting sidetracked by internet searches for the number one and top ten hits of the year in question. . .

and then I remember getting totally sidetracked by the top ten hits of the decade of my teenage years/youth

(no wonder I didn't finish the book)

good thing this was years before I aquired a not-an-ipod-music-thingy, or I might have spent a huge amount of my savings on Napster, reliving my youth!

(actually, dunno why I put an exclamation mark on that, quite fancy reliving my youth - with the benefit of hindsight, of course)

so thanks for reminding me these things exist, will now go off and invest my nest-egg in MP3s of tunes I used to have on vinyl
