It all got a bit messy on my walk. I was just coming back over the bridge when a Police van, all bells and whistles going off, screamed up beside me. I thought it was for me.
Anyway, being of the nosy persuasion I hung around to watch and thought, while doing so, I would check on the moorhen under the bridge. Blow me down if she hasn't had babies! I was transfixed.
I hope some of these piccies have come out, because I don't normally bang on about baby birds, but I love these: so many people go past the every day and, because they are at the foot of the bridge, don't see them.
Oh, and apparently there was a 30 minute shoot out, two Police officers were wounded and seven men arrested (well, they might have been).

Aaaaaaaaaaw
especially the first photo, with them all still in the nest
(you know we'll all be expecting regualr updates now, a daily count to make sure they are all surviving. . . etc etc)
(well, I will)
I'll be checking up regualarly
as you asked so nicely

oh and thank you!
(actually, I have great difficulty spelling some words, but fortunately when I'm talking noone notices)
Gosh, how exciting!
niceeeeee
they are beautiful babies and lovely photos too. Lovely to think of them nestling there under the bridge while the busy world (shoot-outs and all...or is that shoots-out?) is unaware of them.
Thing is Beep, I have to tell you that your moorhens are coots! At least the mother is....who knows, she may be bringing up a clutch of baby moorhens.
Sorry, being pedantic. It comes of having collected brooke bond tea cards in my youth.
Mig - hoorah. Coots eh?.
Er, what's the difference?
I am not really that keen on birds: I thought a grebe was a heron.
I'm better on birds of prey, having been to the hawk conservancy and had a 'lesson'
