And this year, the Beep award for
the most puerile name for a band, who also win the award for the over-hyped band so far this year, and the award for being one of the few I have seen in the last 12 months, as well as the award for the only band I can think of with whom I have a really tenuous 'friend' link as Bloodshot Dawn are no more and my son's band has yet to, er, fly goes to ........drum roll.........the ridiculously named Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.

Oh shit. I like Get Cape Wear Cape Fly. I thought it was just some teenage guy whose name I've forgotten? And I think the name's cool. It's aspirational. Reveals the unlimited capacity of youth for future achievement.
Or something.

I met Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. at the Zodiac when drunk on Saturday - was introduced by a muso friend. Unfortunately I had never heard of him. It was very loud, and I was pretty drunk. And completely incapable of understanding his band's name. I think I went through something like Get Kate, Where's Kate, Why? and Get Cake, Eat Cake, Die, before he eventually politely made his excuses and left. I think I can safely say next time we cross paths he will run away.
For the record, he, Sam Duckworth, is very nice. And I listened to his music on myspace and I quite liked it.
