Since Christmas we've had three days of extreme weather (for hereabouts). You probably remember them: there have been two bouts of really high winds, and then the third is today's snow. All three have been on Thursday*. Nothing that remarkable, but it seems a hefty coincidence to those of us who try to eke out a living on Thursdays in the market.
On the first of these curious days, they closed the market at noon when the wind started to lift the stalls. Stall holders were losing things that the wind just snatched up and dashed to the floor.
On the next windy Thursday just two people turned up to trade that day, and were turned away. It was too dangerous even to open.
Today my phone started to bleep at 06:15 as people texted each other to see who was and wasn't going. I fall into the latter category. So do most people who trade there I think.
It's a drag that we've lost three of the Thursday since Christmas. It's put quite a big hole in my income so far this year, and means I've got a lot of stock. But I have faith; nature has a way of turning things round.
I reckon the antiques and collectables business is going to enter a boom time. And I'll be working in bull market.
What?
Behind my back?
Oh, just some crossed fingers.
==================
*er, obv not you Thursday, as you are a person. There are no flies on you, let alone weather.

WTF?
that's blogger for you
Well, I'm jolly glad you made it clear that it's not my doing. Believe me, if I had the power over the weather, I would be having a bit more fun in my life at the moment than I am. However, I'll see what I can do to improve matters weather-wise.
Well today should have been better :)
I have a tentative plan to be not doing very much next thursday in which case I may come looking for coffee in Oxford.
So we'd better fix the weather :)
