Seems it got up and went. The market yesterday was a desert. Not a sweet concoction in any way shape or form, but an arid plain of emptiness. Of the 70ish stalls, just 15 1/2 were taken yesterday. So 55 people were put off by the media hype.
Yes, two main arteries into Oxford a remain closed, but my journey in in the morning took about five minutes longer than usual, and on the way home it seemed about the same time, 40 or so minutes. I know one or two people were actually affected by floods at home, so they had every reasons to stay home, but where were the rest?
What ticks me off is that by not making the effort each of those regulars who stayed in bed damaged not only their own income, but the income for all of us. Why should all the punters who turned up bother if the stall-holders don't? Each and every one of them damaged more than just themselves and the rest of us and chipped away at the future of the market too. As it goes, it was a low-average day. I cleared a decent amount that will keep me in beer and wine this week. But if everyone had been there, we would ALL have done a lot better.
Years ago, I learned a valuable lesson in business: you get out of life what you put in.
Luckily I have low expectations.
Guffaw.

happy Friday, beep!
word ver: lap joy (I think they are talking about computers)
Oh dear! It must have been dreadful.
I couldn't have come anyway that week and am not going to be able to come this week either as I have a bad back! Honest!
And next week I shall be heading for Cropredy :)
Will there be anyone left the week after?
