"I daresay you're not supposed to, but could you possibly change these coppers for a 5p so I can get a ticket?"
"Hang on", he replies, and gets one of the crescent change purses from the depths of his blue serge pocket. Poor man, blue serge and it's 30+ degrees. And he has to bicycle between the car parks.
He tips the purse up and a shiny 5p emerges. He delicately picks it out and hands it to me. I offer him the coppers in exchange, with fulsome thanks for his kindness.
"No, that's alright", he says.
It may not be much, but he gave me 5p.
And do you know I've been feeling wonderful ever since. It coloured my whole weekend and I even begin to think my luck may be changing for the better. It's only a small thing to him, and he told me that he picks up more than that from the ground by the ticket machines every day, but his little act of kindness has made a big difference. I'm struggling to recognise it, but do you know, I think I'm feeling happy.

Now he sounds like a thoroughly decent chap.
Aaw, thank you. Happy story and lovely flowers.
beep, I'm sure you've answered this before but what camera do you use? Your photos all come out so well.
the bunch of roses are takne on my new toy, a Nikon D70s which I got with the insurance money when my old film Nikon died in the waters of the Doone Valley in Exmoor recently.
The other camera I've been using for the last few months is a Rollei. Although it's a little compact job it has 8.1 million pixels which means that at the sizes Blogger needs it is really high res, even though I post JPegs. I haven't got it herre today, and I can't remember the exact model, but I bought it for £200 and on the basis that you should buy the highest resolution that you can. I like it very much: it's straightforward but also offers me options so I can fiddle with the settigns and satisfy my male lust to over-ride "sutomatic". After all, I know best.
