Looking before leaping

Nothing if not hypocrictically, we decided to go down and look at the floods last night. We weren't the first:

This was the sort of thing they were coming to look at:

Oh, and this bridge. under which you can normally pass on a canal boat.

And the people on it?
Ah yes, well you see, ahem, they were all the people in the first photo who were actually queuing to get home: the police had closed the bridge, then opened it for about 5 minutes to let everyone across before they closed it for the foreseeable future.

OK, OK, I promise not to leap to conclusions again. 'Til the next time anyway

I just came to ask if you were under water, having seen Abingdon on the news tonight.
Glad you're not :)

Not so far Mig, thanks. BUt marketing will be tough: both my routes into Oxford are closed by floods.
A day of adventure awaits...

I, Like The View said...

do you know, I was so busy with my own stuff that I hadn't actually watched the telly or read a paper in weeks

I knew it was bad, but not this bad

hope everyone was alright. . .

. . .that sounds a bit lame, doesn't it?

(but you know my heart is in the right place)
